My search for a dentist is finally over! The office staff, my dental hygienist, and Dr. Ip were all amazing. They were friendly and knowledgeable. The level of care they provided, from the X-rays to the cleaning, and finally Dr. Ip’s recommendations, was beyond thorough and exceeded my expectations.  Can’t believe I’m about to write this but I’m actually looking forward to going back. I’ve been to a couple of dentists that absolutely wasted my time. Not Smile 360. Don’t hesitate to make an appointment- you won’t be disappointed.

Our Powerful Treatments

When you snore, you are putting yourself and your bed partner at risk for developing health conditions related to poor sleep quality. Fortunately, our Austin dental practice offers several treatments for snoring, such as:

A good night's sleep is the first step to having a great day.
A good night's sleep is the first step to having a great day.

VIO2 Mouth Tape

Mouth breathing can cause you to snore and develop other oral health issues. Our dentist wanted to address these concerns, so he developed VIO2 mouth tape with the help of other experts. This specialty mouth tape promotes healthy nasal breathing, which is key for better sleep, oral health, and bodily immunity. VIO2 mouth tape can help you receive the rejuvenating sleep you deserve.

Vivos System

Oral appliance therapy is a tried-and-true method for alleviating snoring; however, traditional devices require lifelong usage to keep airways open. The Vivos System shifts the position of the teeth and jaws to provide a permanent solution to snoring and sleep apnea. After less than two years of using the Vivos System, patients no longer require oral appliance therapy and they and their bed partner can sleep peacefully.

OPTISLEEP

OPTISLEEP is an effective oral appliance for mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea. It is a great alternative to CPAP machines or surgery. OPTISLEEP adjusts jaw position to open airways and relax throat muscles, which allows patients to breathe easily. We use Axeos CBCT technology to fit patients with OPTISLEEP. Axeos is a cutting-edge X-ray machine that provides us with incredibly precise dental imaging without sacrificing comfort. It can take pictures of your airways, showing us your obstruction and the effects of your oral appliance therapy.

ASA With Invisalign

We offer The Aligner Sleep Appliance® (ASA), which is a device that can be worn over clear aligners like Invisalign. The ASA is worn over your aligners as you sleep to support the jaw in a mild forward position, combating both simple snoring and mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea. Pairing ASA with Invisalign can help you solve multiple issues at once. Dr. Ip offers free consultations for Invisalign patients.

How We
Diagnose Snoring

/

Oftentimes, Dr. Ip can accurately treat your snoring after a physical exam at our Austin, TX, office. In more severe cases, we may use digital imaging technology to evaluate your airways. For a more in-depth examination of your snoring condition, Dr. Ip will refer you to a trusted specialist so you can complete an overnight sleep study and he can develop an effective treatment plan.

Is Your Snoring a Symptom of Sleep Apnea?

The Connection Between Snoring and OSA

Snoring can be caused by various factors, including alcohol consumption, your sleeping position, and other aspects that are more or less in your control to change. However, if you try addressing these contributors and still continue to snore, it can also be a symptom of a more serious sleep disorder such as obstructive sleep apnea

Unlike other reasons for snoring, OSA is not tied to your sinuses and nasal pathways but due to the muscles in the throat and soft palate relaxing too much and blocking your airways when asleep. While snoring is not necessarily dangerous to your health, it can be a symptom of a health condition like OSA. An accurate diagnosis is crucial to support your overall health.

Treatment Starts With a Consultation

Treatment for snoring doesn't have to be complicated or uncomfortable. By offering various treatment options, we ensure patients can find the option that works for them and best improves their overall sleep. Frequently Asked Questions About Treatment for Snoring

Q. Does snoring mean I have sleep apnea?

No. Snoring can present as a symptom of sleep apnea, but it's not always caused by having sleep apnea. Snoring occurs when your airways are blocked. For sleep apnea patients, relaxed muscles in their throat and soft palate cause snoring, but snoring can also be caused by other factors, such as blocked nasal passages due to allergies.

Q. Does deep sleep cause snoring?

A common myth is that snoring indicates a deep night of sleep. You may notice that when you're jetlagged or overly tired, you may snore when you otherwise wouldn't. This can be caused by your muscles relaxing more than usual due to overexertion or falling asleep quickly in a position you're not used to, such as sitting up or lying on your back. However, snoring can occur during any point of your sleep cycle and shouldn't be taken as a sign of great rest.

Q. Is insurance or financing accepted at your office?

Dr. Ip and our dental team believe strongly in the solutions we offer for patients experiencing restless nights due to snoring. To make these innovative treatments accessible to our patients, we accept most insurance providers and can discuss in-house financing for certain treatments.

I spent two years (and a LOT of Dr. Ip’s time) asking ALL of the questions about veneers.  Every single time I went in for a cleaning, Dr. Ip would come in and go over all of my questions and concerns without any pressure for a commitment from me. When I finally did commit, he spent even more time going over different options with me and the best way to get the absolute most value out of my investment.
